grey water tanks

I have just come across some items of interest maybe to some. I have been looking for a inexpensive way to have a grey water and black water tank on the mini-bird,,,well I think I have found it. I located some 30 gallon barrels(plastic) from car wash supply company. I think that is a good size for my application. Not too big or small. I have a 15 gallon one for the black water tank. These barrels have two threaded holes ,fittings on one end and I think are national pipe threads too,,so I should be able to make them work.The black water tank is going to take some engineering,,,I have to cut a hole on the side and plumb a fitting in it for the toilet inlet. The bigger hole on the end should work as a drain. And on the same end right abouve the drain is a 1 inch threaded hole that I am plumb a washout line into. I am really on a budget and so this is the reason to go this route. If I had a bigger bus then the ones I got from a water treatment station would be perfect too,they are 50-55 gallon. Any how just thought I would pass it along, I do believe that I will buy my fresh water tank from a RV supply store though. I priced one at 133 dollars and it was 30 gallons.

My original plan was to use the kind of barrels you described, but I couldn't find any locally quickly enough. On the freshwater tank: I have a 40 gallon tank and have to fill it about twice a week. If you can have a couple of tanks, or one big tank, I'd recommend putting on as much freshwater storage as you can work in (budget and space allowing).

Sounds like you're making headway! Remember, it's a whole bunch of little steps that get you to the finished product. You work and work and work, and nothing seems done, and then you work and work and work some more, and voila, things come together and a project is complete!
