It SUCKS!!!! New location as of Saturday... sold 2 sandwiches... lost one sale because we don't take plastic. May have to rethink that. I spent Sunday painting signs on the cart (cold with wind... yuk). Only sign on Saturday was "Gourmet Sandwiches". But David was out there Saturday (and today) mostly for exposure. We still want to get in at the UFO museum. The person who makes that decision became very ill over the week we were trying to contact her. So no telling how long that will take. Now we need to contact her about TWO locations near the UFO museum. Both places are under the UFO museum. I'm beginning to think all the buildings around the intersection of Main St (US 285) & 2nd Street (US 380) are owned by one (or two) people. But for now, we will be selling on Main Street set up in a gas station parking lot next to the Pit Stop Oil Change outfit. No foot traffic. Lots of foot traffic at the museum. More folks actually seeing the cart (David could see them mouthing "Gourmet Sandwiches" in their cars) unlike at K-mart. Need to make the rent this week. There's a $10 per day late fee!

Re: HAPPEY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
ouch!!, I hope you make it thats really to bad about sales, I find it hard right after x-mass to sell stuff, my wife does vending at craft shows, and out of our house, sells soaps, jewellery, etc, we also own and operate a car rental business out of our house , we also look after apartments, so there is always a steady flow of people, they just seem to stop spending money on extra things. But with that said, the best vending(I think) is with food, people always have to eat. I m sure sales will pick up soon. as for taking plastic, it would be nice never to have to take it, but more and more people dont carry cash anymore. here in canada dept cards and credit cards are almost 70 % of sales. what some of the smaller stores are doing is getting ATMs so there customers can just withdraw cash to pay them.
good luck

Depending on the type of cellphone you have you may talk with your service provider about getting a card reader that uses the data plan of your cellphone for swiping cards. My wife has a smart phone with unlimited data. All she has to do is plug in the card reader to the phone and swipe. It was a real boon when we were vending.

I'm looking into Square (free card swipe gizmo and no monthly charges, no minimums low rate). It's highly recommended by the food vendors on Roadfood. As for our cellphone providers. That's Tracphone (pay as you go phone) We need to buy a $50 single rate phone (LG 800G...has triple minutes for life and free shipping) and I'm waiting to see if I can get the daily deposits by Square deposited onto my Wal-Mart Visa Moneycard. We do not have a bank anymore.

Re: HAPPEY NEW YEAR!!!!!!
My wife is a consultant now for Lotion Lites.
http://www.mylotionlites.com/1012
It's just a part time thing to give her something to do. Mainly we use it for the discount we get on the products now. She used to sell hand-stitched fleece baby blankets and recycled denim blankets made from old jeans at craft fairs and farmers markets. My mother-in-law makes them. We also made incense and candles. With my health and the kids though we have given up trying to do anything like that really full-time. But it may be a source of income for us once we start full-timing once the kids are outta the house.
