Hope everyone is prepared
Hey guys
I know a lot of us are getting hammered by this weather and if your not it will soon. We were at 79 degrees yesterday in DFW and will be in the lower 30s by the end of the day. So yeah pretty much a 50 degree temp swing. Hope everyone has made the proper preparations for bad weather.
Stay warm my friends (in my best interesting man in the world voice)

Re: Hope everyone is prepared
I'm staying warm by either parking my butt on a heated blanket or heading into work. I'm looking into getting my cold hands on a Mr Buddy propane heater since my furnace hates me and I'm on metered electric so my electric heater isn't a viable option (that stupid thing sucks more power than my car sucks GAS).
Other than that; hot tea and heating blankets are the only thing keeping me warm right now. I'm moving to warmer climes as soon as I can. I'm a Mel-sicle in the Desert! TT_TT

8F in Central Iowa. Oh yeah... let's get this party started! Looks like the majority of snow is going north or south of us. Close to 0F temperatures without snow just seems like a waste. Gotta have that precip to make it seem real... otherwise we're freezin' for no reason!

Re: Hope everyone is prepared
Mid Alberta Canada, we are looking at -23C for a day time high, -34C at night. Add the 20km|h wind, and it feels like -47C.
Myself and one of my crew are framing a house. The rest say it's too cold. The Milwaukee battery powered electric heated jacket sure helps. I live in a uninsulated bedroom, so I wear it from the time I get out of bed, to the time I go back to bed. My bed has a electric heated blanket.

Lucky, lucky! I moved to Canada when I was 19 because I wanted more than a small foot of snow each winter. (The drinking age being 19 didn't hurt, either.) Started out in Ontario but quickly realized the beauty of Canada was in Alberta and the upper northwest. An 8-month-long winter seems about optimum for me.
... Then your country kicked me out. Something about not having a work Visa or citizenship. *Dreams ruined.* Haha!

That's so sad, and not fair. That's just one more reason to hate politicians.
I'm not allowed in your country either.

Wanna swap? Trade ya! I should have laid low, swept the bar floor and continued accepting wages as cash under the table. BUT... a girl gets greedy, you know. St. Albert is one of the few places in my travels I would return to without a second thought. Especially in winter!

Re: Hope everyone is prepared
It was 50 degrees here in michigan yesterday morning.
It's just below freezing today, about where we should be during the month of december.
My outdoor wood boiler is keeping the house nice and toasty!

Re: Hope everyone is prepared
Texas get really bad snaps of cold. Today we will have a high in the mid 20s (which is pretty uncommon for us and even more so for this time of the year) and wont see above freezing till the early part of next week. We are just not really setup for bad weather here. The city is pretty much shut down as we get LOTS of ice.
Hope you guys are doing well.
Stay warm.

No thanks. I live in one of the best places on earth. Best part of the country too. Here if you are willing to work, money will fall from the heavens.

It was -36 C here last night, -51 with the wind chill. Our main electrical transformer blew up this morning due to overload. 5 hours latter, the power company had a new one on the pole and power restored. Good thing all 4 houses on this farm have a wood stove for backup.

5 hours isn't so bad! You'd think being stuck up there in the "boonies" would leave you without power for... *gasp*... DAYS! It's only -17C here today but a tad windy. At least we have some snow now!
Stay warm!

Re: Hope everyone is prepared
We should break 50 degrees tomorrow finally. Was odd for us to be 70 or so hours below freezing this early in the year. Watch out east coast.
