How about an address

Does anyone know what the best service is for a obtaining a mailing address? most banks and places require a physical address and I was wondering if anybody knows a mailing service that appears as though it's a physical mailing address but yet they can forward your mail or scan your mail and stuff like that. Thanks

When you rent a box at a UPS store you get an actual street address.

We used Your Best Address, based out of South Dakota. There are a couple other outfits in SD (America's Mailbox is another one I can think of off the top of my head) that offer mailing service and will help you set up residency/domicile. Banks, insurance, IRS, etc. all recognize this as a physical address for legalities and many full-time RVers use these services. The service is like 15 bucks a month or so, and SD only requires an overnight stay in the state to establish legal domicile.

I don't recommend America's Mailbox. Mixed-up mail, and they'll bill everything they can, making your monthly rent a base cost on top of which a lot a small billable services are added. Hard to reach by email once the contract is signed.

"Government / financial databases often won't let you use them for your required "residential" aka legal domicile."

How do they know if you don't tell them? That's the whole point, there's no way to tell from your street address.

Real ID requirements are becoming a real challenge to the van / skoolie life style.

In New Mexico it is a penalty assessment misdemeanor to not update your DL address within 10 days. You also sign under penalty of perjury that all information on the application form is correct, therefore if you commit perjury and you obtain the DL under false pretenses do you really have a DL?

FWIW South Dakota issued us Real ID compliant drivers licenses with a Personal Mail Box as our legal domicile.

So how did you satisfy the DHS’s “two forms of proof of residency” requirement?

Abear, What are you trying to do. Establish new residency or just have your mail fowarded?

South Dakota is likely politically motivated, pushing back on the fed requirements, for "freedom".

Hopefully its residents don't get caught n the middle.

How do they know if you don't tell them? That's the whole point, there's no way to tell from your street address.
How about reading the threads so I don't need to retype it all?

They pay outside database services that keep a master list of letterbox services updated for blackballing purposes.

These are then integrated into the organization's data entry UX to notify "sorry that address can be used for mailing purposes but not your legal residential address".

These issues will only get more strictly enforced in future years.

Much easier and cheaper to prevent in advance, than scrambling when thousands of miles away.

Not at all, very easy workarounds spelled out in those threads.

Some don't cost much at all per month.

I don't remember what forms I presented to the DMV, it was a couple years ago. I think I used hotel receipt (that's all SD requires for domicile) and maybe the Personal Mail Box (Your Best Address) papers. It was a really simple process and one of the smoothest DMV visits in my life. I've got the gold star on my license and have been able to fly on an airline.
