How do I find out my exact engine?

Id like to know as much as possible about my Bus. As of now I know its a 1986 S1700 International Thomas Built "short bus". 6.9LD 8cyl engine, AT545 transmission.

Basically I want to know what exact engine I have in this thing.

6.9 liter diesel if i'm not mistaken is the same diesel engine that was used in ford pickup trucks prior to the 7.3 liter power stroke

iI believe it's a non turbo, mechanically injected v8 diesel built by international .

It's not to be confused with the inline 6 cylinders DT series international motors however.

Yep, its a non-turbo mechanically injected v8 diesel built by international.
I was more looking for the size of the engine though.

6.9 liters IS the displacement :P As long as I'm working on my personal WVO conversion, I thought I should throw in that your engine utilized indirect fuel injection which is thought to be better than direct injection should you choose to run veggie oil. Of course direct injection tends to have more power and cleaner emissions which is why you see most modern diesel utilizing this system.

I do run veg oil, I just drove about 4200 miles on veg oil all over the US. Bought it in Asheville NC, and drove it all through the south, and eventually back to california. Spent maybe 120 dollars on diesel in some tough spots.. but I did over 4000 miles in veg oil.

Do you use onboard filtering? I don't mean to hijack your thread, but as long as you're probably watching this one.....

My filtering set up is onboard, but seperate from the actual fuel tank. My hope is to be able to filter 8 gallons per hour in order to maintain a steady travel rate. Perhaps I need to just post a picture....

Anyway...I have "dirty" barrels in back, a dirty tank feeding the heated filtering system, a clean tank below that, and then a final seperate tank for the actual engine. My hope is to make 5000 miles in 10 days on veg oil.

Im working towards that type of system, but for thhe most part. I was just collecting it, and pouring it through filters into the tank, and also had a dirty barrel I would fill, and then later filter into the tank if need be. The system is really.. how would I say on-the-whim/fly, because its what I had to work with. However now I got it back to where i can work on it, and make it how I want.
