Re: How to kill a chicken humanely

I just lay their neck on a block of wood and chop their head off with an axe. Fawk PETA.

I was really hoping to see the fire extinguisher in the background employed somehow. I mean...creatine is just Purple K...you would have the benefit of bulking up the chicken AND killing it in one shot.

When I watched the video, I thought he was joking around. When he put it in the bucket, I thought he was going to sit on it and let one rip. Yea, I know, twisted mind.

Re: How to kill a chicken humanely

Let's see, chop the bird's head off with an ax or wring it's neck, a fast death compared to letting the bird suffocate for 3 long minutes. I think some of those PETA folks need to be stuck in a bucket of CO2 for 2 minutes and then ask if that was "humane"! We raised chickens for years, mostly for the eggs and they were a good for eating the excess stuff from my garden... we killed off the roosters for fried chicken... along with raising rabbits for meat one summer (vicious little beasts) and we raised two hogs for meat another summer (I fed my hogs lots of greens & trimmings from my garden... never any "garbage"). I liked my critters too much to kill them slowly and make them suffer needlessly. PETA can stuff it, but then the PETA folks tend to be city people who are far removed from the close relationship you have when you raise an animal, even for food use.

Re: How to kill a chicken humanely

I also grew up hunting, fishing, a bit of trapping and raising a lot of our own food. besides vegetables we also raised chickens, rabbits, pigeons and goats for consumption. Slaughtering animals was a normal family activity for me since about the 6th. grade, that's when I was old enough to take begin taking care of the chores unassisted. It was just another chore that needed to be done.
