I'd say the 545 is the weak point/deal breaker.

The 545 isn't a 5 speed. And there's no way they'd mount a 545 on an 8.3.

I'm thinking the same thing, the 545 is not compatible with the 8.3

An AT545 5-speed paired with a Cummins 8.3...well, the OP did say we don't see these often.

Agreed, though, Santa Muerte you should go back to the seller and clarify what's there.

I was thinking I'd seen at least one 545 with an 8.3, but I realized it was T444E with MD3060 that's the weird (sort of) mismatch that actually exists.

an 8.3 with a 545 would cost quite a bit of money in transmission replacements. My 3126 has already been through one 545 and hasn't even broken 100k miles yet.

I don't believe that combo could have been built that way. The lowest rated 8.3 would exceed the rating of the at545. Most likely the seller is confused by what they have.

More then likely is the bus has a 5.9 cummins with an at545.

Less then likely is that the bus has a 8.3 cummins with an mt643.

A picture is worth a thousand words. And an inspection is worth even more then that.

I'm guessing it's only a 5.9 but indeed the seller may not be sure what they have. I can't imagine why a typical Q bus application would need an 8.3L. They're usually airport shuttle buses and such, not highway cruisers.

ha! yeah... I meant the Q configuration w/ an 8.3-- honestly I don't know how I missed the 545 at first glance.

...it seems it's a 3000 which to my understanding is similar if not identical to the 3060?

I'm having it inspected on Tuesday-- barring anything too crazy or expensive that needs fixing I think I'll prob pull the trigger.
~fingers crossed~

thanks all for the quick slap on the head regarding the transmission typo ;)

Seems like a lot of dough, but skoolie prices have skyrocketed lately. Even the dealers are paying a premium at the auctions. I would hate to buy from a dealer right now.
