I’m Having Major Skoolie Construction Withdrawl's…

For the last 5 ½ years I’ve been working on my bus and getting it just right, or at least, what I thought was right. Now it’s done and I don’t know what to do with my weekends. What does a skoolie do when there is no more to do?

You go places! Get a map and draw a 50-, 75-, 100-, 150- and 200 mile radius around the town you live in. Depending on how much time you have, start camping on weekends. Do searches to see what is in those areas. Get a Visitors Vacation Guide for your state. The ones they send to out-of-state people. Then look thru to see where you want to go and go play "tourist". We did that in TN and discovered a great State Park (Tim's Ford) and took the kids to go thru the Jack Daniels Distillery (free tour and free lemonade at the end.. took several hours) while there. You would be amazed at the little known free or cheap places. If you are into living history museums, those are often a great deal. We loved "Westville" in Lumpkin, GA and Andersonville, GA

I plan on using mine as a "man cave" when I'm not travelling in it. I'll have electrical and water service from the house, and it will be like an out-building where I can get a little peace and quiet away from the wife and kids to just meditate, play/record music, drink beer, or whatever. Heck, I'm already starting to do some of that and it's not even close to finished!

Here's a link to FREE attractions all across the country. I like free. I think skoolies need to get out more and be seen. Too many folks think of the buses that look they are storing junk. Hit a free attraction and then park overnight at Wally World. Only cost would be fuel , which is getting a tad too high... Diesel was $3.19 on the Isleta Reservation last night!

Winner, Winner, Chicken Dinner...

Mine will be used to tow my off road rig to 4x4 trails mostly...

I plan on hitting some chili competitions.. Not really to compete, but walking around and tasting sounds like a great way to spend a weekend...

I'll also try and hit some music festivals with my buddies... Everyone chips in on fuel and we have a party pad to crash in and hang out...

If I were anywhere close to a Nascar track, I'd be all over that as well...
