I think I have a bus. Now what?

I may have found my bus, but now I need to get it from Western NY to North Carolina. It doesn't have to be there until the beginning of April so I have some time.
I have read the nightmares on insurance, driving without plates, etc. Please give me your opinions on the easiest, the cheapest, the fastest, the safest etc options for getting the bus there. I totally understand that none of those may overlap; for example the easiest won't be the cheapest. Also should I and can I title it in another state? Any and all help is greatly appreciated.

Does it run now and is it road worthy? Check your existing insurance to see if the cover you for a short time on new/used purchases. That will handle the legal part of insurance to get it home.
The easiest would be the cheapest if it runs and can be driven home.

Yup. Make sure you're insured, of course. If you've got that much time you may be able to get plates in your state before you hit the road.

NY vehicles have a tendency to rust out. Same goes for many other northern states.

New England is a pretty rusty place to be bus shopping. especially if you live in the southeast.
