Importing a bus from USA to Canada

Hey guys,

I live in Calgary, Alberta and I've been looking for a school bus to convert for a while now. Not much choice around here lately so I've been looking in Montana which is the closest US state.

There seems to be a lot available and it got me thinking what the possibility might be to import a stock school bus into Canada and if any of you may have done so.

Thanks for your help!
Ricky

Welcome,

I cannot speak to the subject of importing a bus to Canada, I can tell you that I have seen a number of nice buses on govdeals.com that are in Alberta.

Good luck with your search.

Welcome Ricky

There have been a number of individuals that have taken buses into Canada. Hopefully some will speak up to give you the details.

I can understand importing to get a specific model of bus. It seems like there would be as many buses in Canada as there are here. Do they crush their old school buses or something?

Hey YYCBUS, did you ever get any good responses on importing a bus into Canada? We are in Rocky Mtn House, just a couple hours from you, and looking to do the same thing.
Thanks,
Ivory

Ivory,

If you do a little searching on the site you will find a couple of recent threads regarding importing a bus from the US to Canada.

I have done the Canada to US import and it wasn't too bad. From my understanding, going US to Canada is much more difficult and the use of an import broker may be well worth the cost.

I did have to change out the fuel tank. The old one took litres and I needed one that took gallons .....kidding

Good luck.

Start with this thread. Lots of good info there on a recent importation experience.
