Just a note: If you plan to use an yof hte X-10 cameras, or any X-10 wireless controlled devices:

I've found the transformers supplied with this equipment will not run off of my modified sin wave inverter.

Just something to keep in mind.

x-10 makes a remote controller for just about anything in your house. TV, lights, coffe maker ect. They can even be controlled with your computer, or you can control them via the internet from anywhere in the world.

I'm doing a little of what you want..I'm currently setting up my laptop to runa backup camera (usb) and run the sound through I was also looking into tying in all the guages so that the laptop keeps a running data base on everything under the hood...this way I can (hopefully) know its about to explode before it does *S*.. a simple alarm system should be easy to build as well as a weather bug thing.....

I know very little about the physics of electricity, and this may have been mentioned in another thread but can't you use in-line power filters to alter the frequency of the electricity being fed to solve afforementioned problem

I am probably totally wrong, my big thing is faraday affect and van eck waves
