International CE, light that comes on with a bump?

Hi,

Don't have a manual for the bus. It does not look factory, but have seen a similar light in a bunch of videos of the same bus. It comes on for a sec when the bus goes over a bump. Is it like a traction control type warning?

See the orange light below:

And then there is the ECON ON switch. I found some posts where people said it good it's off. But what does it actually do??

Thank you!

The orange light is most likely an indicator that’s one of the rear doors is not latched or in this case the switch is not adjusted properly. To test the theory, open the rear door and see if the light goes on.

I have a green light in a similar position on my 2007 IC CE300.

I also have the Econ switch. Cruising the milage indicator on the dash goes from 7ish off to 8ish while on without change in driving, road conditions or wind. I have not seen any difference in power going up hills or anything. I drove it he bus 2500 miles with it predominately on an I got about 8.5mpg.

@Pizote The door locking is what I guessed as well. But opening just triggers a buzzer and not the light. But now I'm thinking I have a lift with another door. Maybe the light has to do with the lift side. Will check tomorrow

the ECON switch is purely transmission.. it adjusts the shift and lockup schedule for the transmission.. shifts earlier and takes more throttle to force a kickdown.. from the data in one of my TCMs it looks like the full throttle shifts are unaffected... but if you are traversing up and down hills you'll likely want to turn it off to make the trans feel more "responsive" to the engine load..

Which makes some sense as to the better milage, especially around town when there is a lot of stop and go. On the hwy, not so much I guess.

Thx

yeash it doesnt do much on the highway where you are likely to spend 99% of your time in 5th gear anyway..

ive got 3 shift schedules built in mine.. one with low shift points for around town... one for highway with all 6 gears and more responsive downshifts.. and one for hilly terrain with much higher shift points and no 6th gear at all..

And the light was indeed the handicap lift door! Mystery cleared!
