Is this a good deal?

I’m new to the Skoolie world. I’m ignorant in mechanics, but trying to learn. I originally looking for a 5 window shorty and ran across this bus. I’m guessing it’s a TC1000. Guy says it doesn’t have rust, tires are 1.5 years old, and has 225,000 miles on it. Is this a bad deal? It is only about 100 miles from my home.

Is it what you want or just settling because it's close? Also, no actual information given, like which Cummins engine, which Allison transmission? Do you want the extra door associated with the wheelchair lift? If not, it'll be a pain to work around. Mileage is a little high and I think most here will agree the asking price is about double what you should expect to pay.

I was assuming it’s a 5.9/545 since that’s all I’ve seen in these bluebirds. I do want the handicap door. I was budgeting $2000-3500 for a shortie, so definitely over budget. I’m scared to buy a bus far away via an auction then it breaks down on my way home.

ALso, tires are branded with a DOT mfr date code, so "about a year and a half" isn't something you need to rely on. Tires are the big expense on these vehicles. Get the 4 character DOT code off the tires and look it up online.

Sadly, bus tires age out before almost any of them in non-commercial use go below legal tread depth. Manufacturers say tires are toast in 9 years, even with no mileage. In the Southwest sun, they can be dry rotted in less than that. 10 year old tires are not highway safe. No joke. Paul Walker was killed on old hard tires that had "plenty of tread" left but probably caused that accident, and he wasn't even in a bus...

Those tend to go for a premium because because get enamored with the overall size. Even with that said, the listed price is substantially higher than I would be comfortable with. I'd suggest considering how critical that 26 ft length is and if you wouldn't be better served with a 32 foot TC2000 for 1/3 the price.

I think driving over 100 mph in a residential neighborhood might have had something to do with the accident as well.

sorry to go off topic here, but the neighborhood "gangsta" wannabes have been racing on my street. I live in a 30mph zone and I'm sure they're hitting at least 70mph and blasting through the 4 way stop I live at without even letting off the gas. Only gona be so long till someone gets hurt or killed.

On the OP- I don't think that's a 1000. I think its just a shorter 2000. the front cap doesn't have that fiberglass look to me.

As I recall, the 1000 has the two-headlamp arrangement while the 2000 has four-headlamp or else I'm thinking of All-Americans vs 1000/2000.
