Just got a new bus...

I just got a 25' 1989 Ford B600 with a Wayne body. It has a 6 cylinder Ford diesel engine. I traded a 197 Chevy minivan for it. Good deal? Are there any common problems I should know about?

If you could get a blind, lame, toothless burro for a Chevy minivan, you got a good deal!

Other than that, not enough information. The diesel engine sounds attractive. Is the bus what YOU wanted?

Did you mean 1987 or 1997? I think you left out a number there. But you did trade a chevy for a ford, thats a good deal any day in my book. lol

7.8 or 6.6 liter?

can't kill that engine, but it leaves a bit to be desired as far as power. Runs good on veggie oil.

1997 chevy minivan. YES I wanted a bus very bad. I wanted something longer, but this bus ran so good, I couldn't pass it up. It is a 7.8 liter I think. And you are right about it lacking power, but it runs so good. We got it from the Seattle Waldorf School and the owner before them was a school, so they kept it in immaculate condition. I have begun conversion by putting a solar panel on it and 4 deep cell batteries and a solar controller, but I still need an inverter. I do plan on converting it to veggie oil in the near future.

Score! Another person with a lowest bidder bus!

Only reason I say that is because they were generally the cheapest buses they had up here...especially on a Ford chassis. I guess the drivers didn't much care for them. Of course mine is in FANTASTIC shape for it's age and locale whereas the Bluebirds they all liked have rusted away long ago.
