JUST GOT MY FIRST BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

well sorta...i bought it, havent picked it up yet.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 51384&rd=1

what do you guys think? was it a good deal?

i know there isnt much info on the page but i called the guy and talked to him and asked him a bunch of questions. the bus is in NY which is about 7.5 hours from here...should be fun because my buddy and i are going to pick it up. stay the night and then spend new years eve in times square.

but i do need some help, i cant visualize how much room is on the bus...it looks like it has 4 rows on one side and 5 on the other? and the wheelchair lift. anyone with this type of bus can give me a ballpark as to how many feet it is from the drivers seat to the back door? we are trying to figure out if we can put a couch, and a couple recliners in there...but we need to know how long it is...HELP!!!

I think you have about 8-10 feet behind the drivers seat. Good luck with your bus from another shortbus owner!!

Re: JUST GOT MY FIRST BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Congrats! I think you got a REALLY good deal! Short buses are usually more expensive than the big ones! I want a bus exactly like that... built on a van chassis with a 5.7L motor. To find a five window bus is hard. A good rule of thumb, even on the short buses, is to count the windows down one side. Your bus has 5. Each window is approximately 2.5' long on just about any bus. So, I'm guessing that behind the driver, you have 12.5 feet give or take six inches. I'm planning to buy a short bus like that in a year or so. I could definitely make it where it had a couple bunks, a couch, a bathroom with shower and toilet combo, and a small kitchen area too. It would be good for two or three people. And I could do that with 10 feet. Having that extra 2.5 feet will make a difference! Anyways, if that bus runs and drives good, I'd say you got a really good deal. Crown buses are generally regarded on this board as one of the best buses you can get. Most of the short buses I see like yours, are going for $3,500 plus. If you don't like it and want to sell it, I might be willing to work something out!

Re: JUST GOT MY FIRST BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

thanks chief. 13 feet would be nice. this bus is smaller than what i had in mind....but it was pretty cheap..so. i want 2 couches facing each other with a table in the middle..one bed and room for some coolers and such. i will probably build the couches so i can have storage under them.

funny thing is, we planned a ski trip to colorado a while back. ironic thing is that we are leaving on the 5th. i get this bus on the first.. i have a team that is going to try very hard to get the seats out, the lift, and put a couple couches in there...probly have to pull some all nighters..

Re: JUST GOT MY FIRST BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Two guys with an air compressor and air tools can take that apart in one day. Buy yourself a grinder if you don't already have one, It will definately take care of those stubborn bolts. If you get a fold out couch bed, you can save some space. I built my couches with a ton of storage and the backs come down on the table to make a king size bed.

Re: JUST GOT MY FIRST BUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think You got a great deal. You shouldn't have any problem getting the demolition out of the way and as for the seating and such, that always seems to take on a life of its own. When you survey the "empty box"it will tell you the best layout for the furniture and such.
Happy converting

Yeah, I bought a Dewalt 4.5" angle grinder. I was able to remove all 20 of my seats by myself in a few hours. You could get it done in no time on that bus!

So WVGuy, Have you've gotten your bus yet? It looked like a good sized mini to convert.

Good luck with your conversion.
