IDK man. The bears I've been around are terrified of humans. Even if it were aggressive I'd try to not kill it. But if forced to use deadly force upon a bear I'd want a MINIMUM of a .40 but a .357 mag would be a good round for black bear here in FL.
Its just such a shame that they're being evicted, and in such brutal fashion.

They finally freed the eagle that fell into the drain.
A couple weeks ago a state trooper saved one from the grille of a vehicle.

When in Alaska where they have Brown & Grizzly Bears we were told that it's best to carry pepper spray & wear a bell, They also advised how to tell the difference between Brown Bear & Grizzly Bear scat, the two look a lot alike except the Grizzly scat smells like pepper & has a bell in it.

Northern Minnesota here and I have had a lot of animal activity revolving around my skoolie and I don't live in it yet. I am primed metal interior and open back end with tarp.

During the warm season, I have had rabbits living under my bus. Birds nesting inside. Bees thought it was so funny to try build a number of hives on the sides of the ribs on the roof. I had a fox dive out of the back of my bus one night when I opened the front door. The local deer family made a walking path between my bus and my garage. I don't mind them passing through but they scare the hell out of you when they snort and crash through the woods.

A bear wouldn't surprise me. I have this irrational few of spiders and yeah my wide open bus was a spider magnet for a while there. Other than that no, no animal issues. Nothing damaging at least. That being said, I am a bleeding heart and wouldn't hurt an animal even if it damaged my property. I say that as a law enforcement officer as well. Goes to show how set I am in not doing harm to anything or anyone.

I feel the same way, would never hurt an animal. I cant say that i would never hurt a person, but i wouldn't go out of my way to find trouble.

Gosh am i in good company or what;

I didn't want to tell people this... but i think it will be understood here;

So a few weeks ago i hear some rustling in the dash area next to the drivers seat.
I immediately imagine a rodent chewing through all the wires and plan to get a humane catch trap... ehh but that doesn't feel right in my tummy, so...

I ask the Universe for guidance and i receive a clear answer "leave him be"
but it may chew my wires ! So i say... ok i will leave him be for today and cant make any promises about tomorrow.

So that evening arrives and i get curious and begin opening dash pannels and i find his little bed. He's a lot like me; just trying to find somewhere safe to live and warm to rest. My heart thaws a whisker and well...

his name is Eugene and i feed him almonds and currants and rice cakes, because that's what i like and what's in stock. lol and so now apparently the front of the bus is cold as heck so he moved shop to above my bed. lol I hear him up there less than an hour ago. So Eugene lives where my jeans are stored and i figure if he poops on em i will just have to wash em or throw em out. Heck i wear the same clothes for weeks in winter since im not sweating.

He's a pretty darling little friend. I try not to think about what happens when he meets a girl mouse and they start a family of 70 up there lol but tomorrow does not belong to me so today is where i dwell and just for today Eugene is safe and happy like me and the kitty says she wont eat him so long as he never shows his face to her. lol

And here i feared being single all those years only to discover i have more company than i invited.

I worry a bit more about the nut-cases. Not so much the cases that eat nuts.

Yeah, since fur prices have been low for the last decade or so the population has exploded here in KS... They've almost single handedly wiped out the quail around here and I haven't seen pheasant like I used to either... Gonna take advantage of the supermoon tonight and see if I cant make pants to go with the coat...

My art studio is just a few blocks from downtown Houston and a few hundred yards from a bayou that runs across the city. I have seen coyotes walking down the city streets here as if they were out in Big Bend.

Bus Nut I hold a special place in my heart for your little buddy. My dad's name was Eugene, and bet he'd get a kick out of it too. Will he need to worry about your "Carytowncat" name?
BTW if you ever find anything that scares him, or any of his relatives, away from your bus, PLEASE let us know. If they aren't a pet they really are a pest. (not you dad) lol
