Major body work - whose done it?

I've seen some conversions where it's been turned into a car carrier (either internal or flatbed) and of course roof raising.

Ideally I want a short transit..which they don't really make. I can get a transit next june (not sure the price, but last bus they sold went for $4k and I work there...)

It's a 72 passenger..about 3 feet less than a similar sized conventional but still longer than I want. The wheel base is a good 5' less..I can probably live with that.

So I'd be taking the last, say, 4 windows worth off the bus and then rebuilding the rear wall ..either double doors or roll up or ?? and putting on an electric tailgate. I think a ramp would have to be too long for my use (esenntially a cargo van than can be emptied and used as a simple camper)

So I'll add water/gray to it, tiny kitchenette (think bar sink, no stove as that would be a coleman camp stove), genset (small portable one I have), compost toilet if I even do that.

So..how challenging is it to cut off the rear of the body and re-attach it or something new?

Also thinking with the extra metal I can cover windows or add basement storage that would match in appearance.

I can weld..may like that over riveting..I know welded joints don't move or flex..do riveted joints move and flex? Would welding the rear end back together be asking for trouble?
