dont laugh but ive had pretty good luck with MAACO paint jobs over the years.. when I re-did classic cars that I wanted as drivers I always went to MAACO.. I didnt spend uch and the quality was perfect for a driver or casual cruise-in car.. I never felt bad about taking them to get groceries etc...

I may just do a quick paint job in my friends garage.
But yeah, if you do the prep and have it all ready for them, Maaco can spray a decent finish for cheap.

those cars always looked like theyd be generally not too bad to prep for paint... take out the lights and stuff pretty easily

the body looks to be good.. maybe block it to get the top layer of clear coat roughed up then shoot it?

In auto body tech school, we played a prank on an administrator by painting his vic mary kay pink. Prep on these cars isn't too bad at all!

After talking to the cop guy, I think it was brake fluid. But that roof spot looks like classic "bologna in the sun" damage. Shame that our tax dollars are paying the salaries of some crazy, corrupt cops who can't follow the law. The chief got investigated and had to resign, then the IA officer's car started getting vandalized.
I feel even better about it knowing it was a GOOD cop's car!
I'm just hoping they didn't sugar his tank, but it doesn't sound like there's any damage or issues other than it needing a quick paint job.

only thing that sugar in the tank does is plug up the fuel filter, sugar will not dissolve in gas

there was a guy who tried to blow a lawnmower engine up with sugar... he put like 1/2 a cup of sugar in a gallon tank.. let it soak.. and had exactly that result, it plugged the fuel lines and fuel filter, but the engine never was destroyed

Good to know. I was just thinking of juvenile ways of vandalizing a car and it came to mind.

So after initially talking to the guy everything seemed ok. Said he'd call me yesterday and that I'd be able to get the car yesterday or today. Both days I've been blasting through my lawn-care route to get home as early as I can in hopes of going to get my sweet new chariot.
The suspense is killing me.... UGH! lol

I'm sure its just some paperwork thing or someones waiting on someone to sign something... But man, I wanna cruise to the beach in this popo beast this weekend!

Hell that one's close enough, too. Right near the one I just bought! Good find.
Maybe I'll have it towed/hauled here or get my dolly and pull the driveshaft and tow it back... Can get a used, working trans for one of these things for cheap.
I could see getting "into" cop cars. They're pretty sweet deals.

The 4R75W... So yeah, basically an AOD Ford, but the strongest of the type.
Not the greatest, but they're cheap and plentiful.

Well so much for getting the car this week. No answer and no returned calls when I leave messages. Its pretty frustrating. Guy was super nice, friendly, helpful- now nothing. And I have x amount of days to remove the car, so I'm wondering how long I'm expected to wait. I paid the next morning, spoke to the guy and confirmed payment. He said I could come get it the next day most likely, but that he'd call me. Its been several days now.
Something is starting to seem fishy about this, or maybe I'm just being impatient. I WAS gonna bring him some donuts, but not so sure now.

Dude, my noob opinion on the whole gov auction buy.
Like anything government related, meaning not private, is like the DMV. Take a number, make a line, wait for their break to be over, 5 hrs later: sir, you are in the wrong line.

isnt an auction a legal binding affair once you paid? so even if the bosses boss's kiid decided he wantas that car then its still yours? remember gvt is likely closed today for veterans day...
