[size=150]I just bought a Crown.......It's a 1990.......I already own a transit style 30 ft All American, that has the Tall Deck 427, I put 2200 miles on it this Summer. It's a beautiful driver, Solid and Stable on the Road, no rattles or squeaks. It's got the Allison MT643 transmission, geared at the rear axle in the 8's and it cruises very nicely. Governed at 65 mph, and sice I added the High Performance in Line fuel pump, (blue), where I could adjust fuel flow from 4lbs psi to 14lbs psi. this thing climbs grades like a monster. I had it sold on Ebay, but I pulled it, for fear I would sell it, and then get out-bid in the last seconds and lose this Crown........and end up giving a way a very solid reliable Coach........and having nothing to show for it but some cash. Anyone interested I am selling this BlueBird I can e-mail photo/s.
Now my 90 Crown has tinted windows, I will add the Ebay link, and that will explain all the particulars of my purchase. I did as much research as I could in the time available: This is a 40 ft. Crown with the NT855 Cummins Engine mid-ship. it has 152,000 verified miles rated at 300hp. I have heard these things, 855, can be tuned to 450 hp........I know they use these engines in locomotives. The only negative thing I could find, is you never want to run them out of fuel, and that they seem to have had issues with cracking flywheels..........Incidentally this Coach has the Fuller Eaton 5 speed.
So I'm interested in what you guys/gals think and what are some of the issues I need to be apprised of: that they can be addressed in a managed fashion, as opposed to stranded on some forsaken highway. I'll try and add links to both of my buses.....Aloha Mokibrabrant
