New tires feel off. Thoughts?

Hi. We just put new tires on our 98 International Skokie bus. I know new tires usually feel a bit different as balance beads need to disperse and tread depth affects things. However, we are about 400 miles in and keep getting a strange fish tail when going approx 60 on highway. Back right side keeps pulling right every once and while. Thoughts?

1. Did you check the pressure?
2. Beads are not the best way to balance a wheel. Centra-matics are way better.

I've had the same feeling with all new tires on tractor-trailers. My experience was that the tires stopped this after a few thousand miles (a couple weeks to a month, given the mileage we traveled.)
Yes, the pressure was full on all of them and the alignment was good too.

I second this motion.
New tires will "feel" new for a while, especially if the brand and type was changed from what was taken off.

if you went up in size / width it takes a little getting used to.. if you went with an aggressive drive tire they have a pretty wide footprint on the ground usually and can be a little tougher to drive.. esp in an empty bus...

running the pressure up at the higher end of the range seems to help.

Thanks for the thoughts and tire tips. We’ll see how the tires perform on this trip. They feel a bit better today.
