My previous bus was a 1969 40' 10 wheeled Gillig that I though could go through anything - until I tried to drive out of a gas station that had an exit ramp that was angled on both sides. The kick down linkage, which was connected to the throttle, caught on the peak of the ramp, which floored the throttle and smashed the transmission pan into the ramp!
There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth.
Those that have bottomed out, nosed in, or dragged your tail; what happened? What kind of environment were you in? What type and size of bus where you in? Do you think a bus with a different setup (conventional, FE, CE, RE) could have made it through? Was there damage? Have there been places you wanted to go but didn't dare, because of the type or size of your bus?
*I posted this in the "On the road" section several days ago under the title "Bottom bangin'", but have received no responses.
