Off Topic -- art car project for Burning Man?

A 1974 Silverline boat followed me home today, largely because I hooked the
trailer it was sitting on to the back of my pick’m’up. Come Thursday, the boat,
abandoned for 12 years, goes to the dump -- unless we come up with
something worthwhile to do with it.

I’m thinking Art Car.
I went to the Burning Man Art Festival last year, and loved it. At BM it is common
to drive Mutant Vehicles, which are a bit like parade floats (5 MPH max). One of
the most popular themes is a boat on wheels. So that’s old hat. How about
turning it up-side-down so the gunwale is just an inch off the ground. Then cut
out the bottom (now the top) for a passenger compartment. In there, install a
Jacuzzi type hot tub -- the kind where people sit in a circle, facing the center. No,
no water. I think.

The chassis would be anything we can make work -- golf cart, small automobile,
lawn tractor.... I have a couple of electric motors laying around.

Now YOU come up with a better idea. Sure you can. You’re one of those fun-loving
innovative non-conformists, aren’t you?!

you couldn't have a jacizzi at burningman, that would never work!

if you do decide to delve into a jacuzzi/small swimming pool idea i'd be more than happy to give ya a few pointers on filtering and such.

i like to bring home a bucket of playa dust for research and develpment purposes. I've got water filtering on the playa down to a science. The one thing i'm lacking is a good method to move water at a suitable rate for filtering. Moving the volume of water inside the jacuzzi through a filter(s) every 5 minutes would ensure crystal clear water, but requires a lot of energy. I move water much slower, perhaps every 35 minutes, because i like a nice quiet generator and fuel effeciency.

i think an old diesel firetruck with a front mount pump (allows you to drive and pump at the same time) would be an excellent solution. You could run the engine on veggie oil, and turn the tank into a mobile swimming pool circulating water at upwards of 1,000 gallons per minute if you had the desire.

sorry, a bit (way) off topic from your up-side down boat...which i think is a lovely idea.

I read about your filtering system a while back -- quite impressive.

But I really don't intend to put water in this thing -- just use the jacuzzi as car seats.
A conversation pit. The driver would sit in the rear in order to see forward.

It's just an idea at this point. But I'm not letting that boat sit here as a lawn
ornament, so either I do something creative with it, or it goes to the dump.
One of the two will happen Thursday.

Meanwhile, I'm working on Millicent!
