Shise, Bro...
You prolly don't have any Acepromazine leftovers from Dixie.
OTC worming meds knocked my Shadow RTF out, when we moved from FL 2 NH. She was terrified of cars.
Vomit, piss, and explosive diarrhea all over the X's car wasn't funny.
Well, in retrospect, it now is...
Best I got for ya.

Call the Humane Society and let them deal with it. It's not your responsibilty. Let it loose, it's probably begging for her pups, that might be right around the corner. I have learned much lately about Pit Bulls. A friend is having trouble getting homeowners insurance because she owns a Staffordshire Terrier, and is the sweetest thing in the world and she doesn't understand why this dog is singled out when there are other breeds that are more so. The bottom line is there are more Pitbull Breeds out there than any other dog breed and 1 in a 1000 causes a human death. I don't care what the percentage is. Because there are so many of them the incedent count is going to go up. People get attacked by Chihuahua's all the time. Insurance doesn't care about those because they don't maim and kill and rip your childs face off when he tried to give it a kiss.

5 am its still crying.
Not just a little bit. Full chimp.
I hate to call the animal control officer but I simply am unequipped to deal with this and its giving me major anxiety.

Like marc said, it's not your responsibility. You've done everything you possibly can to help this creature, let the pros handle it from here. Or just let her go, although I'm not sure that's a good idea.

Its friendly but I'm not letting a 70 lb pitbull go in my town or anyone else's. I'll shoot it before I dump it.
Its still going on. Hoping it will lose its vocal chords or something. I literally have had a full on panic attack all night over this dog.

No, you're quite right about giving the bitch the boot irresponsibly.
Spoiled and friendly or not, loosing a fur coated razor blade is like firing your gun up in the air. Despite the fair statistical probability nobody'll be hurt doesn't make it a good idea. Sorry 'bout your luck...

In the wee hours of the morning I had it in my head to take it out to Johns and shoot it. That's how panic inducing that monkey sound is. Its like listening to turture. I know the dog is heart-broken over its sudden change of surroundings and stuff but whoever owned it didn't teach it to have ANY chill.
I'm not opposed to owning another dog but I can't take the noise. Those monkey torture sounds don't help my anxiety.
I'd try to make this work, but you gotta hear the noise to appreciate how horrible it is.
Damn whoever bred this dog .

CB,

You have a good heart!

I wish I had some magic advice..... I don't. I would suggest calling another local vet and ask the same questions.

Hoping for a positive outcome.

Take it to a vet or animal control to see if they can scan it for a chip.
IF the owner was any kind of caring, perhaps they had it chipped for this exact scenario...?

We fully expected to drop off the dog today at the local animal shelter but they're closed on Wednesdays.

IDK what I could have done to deserve this, but I'm pretty unhappy today. Got maybe 4 hrs sleep last night.

I know its crying because its scared and in new surroundings. But man every time I let it out of the kennel it acts all crazy and runs around jumping up on my wanting to play. IDK who's playing so rough with an animal like this but I don't feel too comfortable with it. The thought of it clamping that jaw down on me is very sobering. My dog hates this thing and has already bitten it pretty badly. Not my fault- Roxy doesn't think they need to be separated. If we try to walk it the thing just tears ass and drags us. Its way too strong and crazy to walk. Whoever owned this dog before was a terrible pet owner. Dixie is nothing like this dog.
My brother was BADLY mauled when we were kids and I still get a bit scared of dogs.
Its so funny when there's an abandoned animal all the animals lovers are nowhere to be found. Its how we have so many cats.

Boy howdy, ain't that the way of it?
You do a good deed, and it turns around and bites you in the butt!!!
Hopefully purely in the figurative sense. 🤞

Dixie bit this dog right below the eye. Drew blood, even.

SO next question is- How do I get my alpha female hound to not start fights with this dog who could kill her?

At least till you can ditch the bitch on the shelter.

spent all afternoon trying to get the dog situated better. Got an additional kennel roof at tractor supply. Now all 20 feet of kennel are covered from rain and sun.
We've been having to keep dixie inside due to the sun and rain and now they're both out there and seem to be doing fairly well. This new dog stays mostly quiet when dixie is nearby. Thanks to Roger and Sledracer for their insight. I've tried my best to implement your suggestions and it seems to be having a positive impact.

Roxy and I let it out while I assembled the kennel roof and it got really chill. Caught us totally by surprise as it hasn't acted so well yet.
If it doesn't make the monkey sounds tonight I'll be happy as a clam.

Just smoked a gram of some Rudeboi OG. Feeling right.

Nobody can do a chip check, nearby?
Somebody or some family could be missing their pride and joy?
It does seem like she might be getting used to you and your family after 3 days, finally?
Named her yet???
Good luck on how this ends up for all of you...

The only dog sounds through the night came from Dixie barking at a couple of cats that wander through the yard occasionally. One "shut up dixie" and back to silence.
AHhhhhhh, man silence is golden.
