Overspeed flashing light on 1990 GMC

Hello there so I thought I would post here, and at some point because the bus is currently not located near me, will post pictures and / or a video, but I have a 1990 Chevrolet, it's actually not a GMC throttle body 5 speed manual with a 366, and it starts, and runs, but after a very short while, the idle will fluctuate, and it acts like it wants to stall, but eventually it'll just flat, and will not restart, unless I let it sit. When this happens, the overspeed light flashes I'm assuming it's the programmable read-only memory in the computer, but I'm not a hundred percent sure. Anybody have any ideas
