That sounds fair.

Would you allow people to pay rent on a month to month basis? How much advanced notice would someone give before moving out?

It looks like they already have one. For more leads, see The Hackerspaces Wiki, but be aware that its information is not necessarily up to date.

Thanks JD,

I will keep you in mind.

I am currently waiting on, a call from the County to pin down the septic requirements.

Sounds like a great plan, Steve! At least from an end-user perspective. I have no idea what the financials would look like on your end.

Is this a lease on the res (assuming you're not a tribal member)? Or purchased property off res?

Too far NE for us, unfortunately, even for use on a temp basis. But if we were looking for something similar, one thing that would be HUGE IMO would be an enclosure in which to do painting. Heck, I'd probably even make the trip if a bus-sized 'booth' could be rented out on a daily basis.

The property is not on tribal land. No worries there.

I like the paint she'd idea.

We stayed at a free camping just outside petrified forest. There were also electric hookups.. In that case you would have to pay $12/night..

Steve. I like your energy in this.. May be some sites with electric and some without.. The $$ will promote solar..No generators because there will be always people with the cheapest loud generator that "needs" to run 24/7.
We have camped in that area close to elmorro. On the continental divide.. Land is very cheap.. But as others mentioned not HD or building store close by. So that would make it a tough location to do a project.

Love to stop in for a week or so on our next trip out west.

Good luck Johan

I'm a huge fan of this idea.
I'd love to do something similar, but my money situation keeps getting worse.
I keep thinking "next year".

Sorry to hear that brother. I'm pretty broke myself (left over from getting run outta Puna by Pele, goddess of fire and volcanoes), but looking forward to getting back to work and to Oregon and hittin' that Kush again!

Sorry to hear that, also.
I've lost all my family. Then my new family in Puna.

Can still afford food and kush, but buying land is sorta out of reach for a while.

IMO, Kush is food! For the mind, for the soul.

When in Oregon, I had to limit myself to two B.T.s of kush in the morning, or nothing would get done. But that lasted me all day - kept the pain away and the internal vibes smooth and calm (I'm a bit physically spaztic at times). Then at night, I'd catch up.....

right now I can't even afford to rent land to park my new BlueBird Motorhome. Thanks to magic plastic cards, I've at least got this far.....

My initial thought is to have a shared generator and and solar of modest capacity to support basic power needs and permit individual generators from 7am until dusk.

This is still in the"research" stages. If I get positive news from the county and the septic designer then I will fly down for a week and look at the practicality as far as access to services and shopping.

I would be offering month to month. If someone has paid for the month and gives advance notice that they are leaving before the end of the month we would refund the unused rent.

If no notice then they forfiet the unused rent.

Does that sound fair?

It all sounds good. And I'm curious to know what the attitude of these county inspectors is toward compost toilets and the use of the resulting compost on trees and such. This is Apache County, right? Looks like an interesting place.

I believe that is very equitable by far. I would say base the metered utilities upon an average consumption. I'll have some raw datum in about two months if that could help with a base-line. We'll be here until April, then on the road until the end of September. By then we will definitely have some good numbers to share at that time.

Also don't forget, we now have a thermal break, along with insulated curtains and a few other things to help keep the cool out in winter and warm out in the summer.... So using our numbers may put you below a typical skoolie build's power consumption. Just an FYI......
