Questions to ask when buying a fully converted skoolie?

Hello everyone.

My name is Ace and I have been hunting for my perfect skoolie for two months now. I recently inherited a rental property in upstate Newyork and am going to be taking a loan against it to do renovations and most importantly buy my first skoolie. I work remotely and the rent from the house is enough to pay the loan so I actually have the ability to go full vagabond!

I have a good understanding of solar but for the most part everything else will be new to me. Since I’m literally betting my house, I need help narrowing down my prospects. I have a list of 16 buses I want to start interviewing so that I can narrow them down to my top three to go check out in person.

What questions do I need to be asking that you would ask?

Thanks
Ace

A variety of replies await...

Many of the probable responses depend on your intended use for the conversion.

KOA camp sites, warehouse deliveries, food truck, backyard retreat, toy hauler, off-grid residence....

What is your mission?

I would want to know if the seller built it and if so do they have pictures and video of the build process and can tell you everything they did. Assuming you already narrowed it down to the size, type of bus, acceptable drive train combinations, etc. you would have to look at the the value of the vehicle itself plus all the materials used and the quality of the workmanship as well as just the overall aesthetics, safety, and functionality. Unfortunately it's a very hard question to answer and it would really be best to have someone with tons of experience help you check them out. Hopefully depending on where they are located someone from here might be able to help. Probably give way more information about the whole situation and an idea of your level of knowledge on skoolies.
