/r/skoolies is full of IDIOTS

Anyone ever ventured over to the "skoolie" side of Reddit?

"I just got a 2008 C2 from New Jersey with the side door missing for $10,000. The adventure begins!" 487 upvotes.

I kid, because that was the first bus I was considering buying. But it's not too far off the mark from what gets posted there regularly.

Naive, gullible folks buying complicated, chintzy emissions buses for top dollar. reddit all the way.

Ugh, I am also guilty! We were looking at rusty as heck $10k buses before coming here.

Ha! I wondered where they had all gone. Skoolie isn't near as much fun to read as it used to be.

It's bad over there. That's not to suggest that I'm a skoolie master (hell, I own a cutaway) but there are some very bad decisions made over there. It's definitely a different culture on Reddit.

They're big on organic insulation and newer buses.

The mod apparently spent 35 grand dealing with his 6.0L. At least he has a sticky up warning people about that engine.

I ocasionally see some okay-decent interior design ideas on the subs but yeah otherwise its all just uneducated buyers with really bad ideas that don't want to take the time to do the research.

C'mon, CB, they gotta have that organic insulation to keep them warm when they're waiting for the wrecker after their MaxxiPadd / VT365 / 6.0 PowerJoke blows up on them...

Why do you think we're supposed to call them 'reddidiots'?

I swing through there every couple days and check it out. I like scrolling through pictures of other people's busses and Reddit certainly makes that easy!

The depth of knowledge on skoolie.net is deeper by far. Thanks for being here, you all!

There are some great folks on there. Wanderlounge being one of them. But I know him both IRL and on this site too. He has a lot of real world skoolie knowledge. Good dude, Josh.

So we can make fun of Reddit users but not Trump supporters?

Herr derr it's funny because they're not like us.

I think there's less hipocracy over there. And my pictures don't get posted sideways.

Well a competing site vs Skoolie.net is way different than hashing out political opinions. But I could definitely make fun of the man all day in the right setting!
FWIW I'm always just as shocked with a lot of what I see on the skoolie facebook groups too.

I wasn't really making fun of reddit users, since I are one. That subreddit is kind of a mystery to me, though, both in terms of why I visit it and why anybody else does. Conversations there about actual skoolie topics go nowhere, and requests for technical help are met with cricket noises. It's mostly pictures of just-painted bus floors - which are indeed at least oriented correctly - and I don't know who the hundreds of people are that are saying "oh yay, another painted floor!" I suspect it's actually just bots up-voting reddit-hosted pics for some reason. I only really visit to try and save people from buying rusty junk.

That's one thing I prefer about skoolie.net, is that (with a few exceptions lol) I think everybody here is a real human being. Hell, I've met you in person, although maybe they have really good androids now.
