Question Reusing Ceiling Insulation

We pulled off the ceiling insulation and are wondering if this can be reused. A couple of questions we have are

1. What is this type of insulation called
2. Can we reuse this insulation
3. How to clean this insulation
4. How to determine the R value of said insulation

Any advice and guidance would be most welcome. Thank you

If it's clean I don't see why not. If it's moldy, I wouldn't. Mold is also an indication there was a leak above it in the ceiling or wall prior and you will want to take measures to seal those areas up.

The R value on that is only gonna be like 2.5 to 4 max. Practically zero. For living in a skoolie you will want like R15 minimum, on ceilings so your AC's and Heaters will hold cold and hot air longer, and keep outside temps out longer.

In a bus on floors it's possible to get R20 with the right materials, and R15 on ceilings and walls. It will be a pretty comfy bus if you can get those R values and you should shoot for them.

This often times requires XPS boards, 4inch's worth on the floor, and spray foam on the walls and ceilings.

If you go the cheaper route with EPS boards, you'll only get to about R10 on the ceiling an walls which is better than the stock insulation, and still decent, but not the target goal of R15.
