My dad worked with him when he developed the original. My father was a sailmaker and rigger an supplied all the shortened cable kits for the builders. I learned to drive in a Manx.
Thanks for the memories Bruce, rest in peace.

I learned recently that my grandfather used to work as a machinist for Thomas Edison. He (grandfather) died before I was born but I used to play around with his tools in my grandmother's basement in West Orange. I would give absolutely anything to have those tools now but they were apparently thrown out years ago.

I don't know if my amphibian dune buggy was made/designed by him or not, but I sure had a lot of fun driving it when I was a kid.

peteg59, thanks for posting that. Mr. Meyers was a legend in CA. I remember going with friends and riding and driving the manx at Pismo beach. We towed it behind a late 60's Dodge motor home that looked al lot like a mini Flexible coach. RIP Mr. Meyers.

I never knew it was called the Meyer's Manx. It was always referred to as a Dune Buggy. Growing up just North of San Francisco, they were a pretty common site.

What an iconic vehicle.

RIP.

It (the buggy) caught my attention from the get go because Mr Meyers named it after the manx cat. My mother loved manx cats and I do too. In fact I have one now. It is the end of an era.

Wow, great to see Bruce has a public presence outside the dune buggy crowd. WInnie (wife) is surrounded by family and close friends at this time, the Meyers have a lot of support. I have spoken to WInnie more than Bruce over the years and both always made themselves available to anyone who wanted a few minutes of their time to talk.

The day after Bruce died a good friend of mine and I got together in his buggy for an impromptu memorial run. RIP Bruce Meyers you were a one of a kind!
