Shifting issues
Anybody know a good mechanic in Seattle/Tacoma area? Had some airlines blow, replaced them and holding psi but now the tranny doesn't shift right. It takes a good while to get out of first, will go into second then third but that's it. The rpms are staying low (no higher than 2200). I had no transmission issues before replacing airlines. Change transmission filter and put c-4 rated hydraulic fluid had the same issue If it takes a long time to shift into reverse that's the problem

if you have an air throttle theres a chance you have an air-operated modulator on that 643.. make sure if there is an air line going to modulator it has pressure based on the throttle and not full air all the time.

Ok look it up should say anything C-4 rated off road they use C-4 rated 15w40 motor oil but don't do that ever since I changed the filter the next 1500 miles shifted smoothly that's after the Allison mechanic said my clutches were shot i disagreed and I was right saved $2800 on a rebuilt transmission

Mine once left me dead in the water on a 6% grade till It cooled down next day is when it took a crap if you're able put two quarts of Lucas transmission cleaner can be got at truck stops let it clean up the hydraulics then change out filter and fluid if your not Able to drive around to work it thru the system then sit and change forward reverse quite a few times it's not necessary to add the cleaner but helps hydronic fluid has a lot of cleaning additives in it

I can try that between Fwd & R, I'm not really in an area where I can drive at 10mph until she finally goes into second without being nuisance.

I was told by an Allison guy that a 545 being used in severe duty could run 15W40 engine oil, like rotella t4. He also said that it's suggested only to do that if a full flush is performed, 2 or 3 changes to get oldvfluid out or do it on a fresh rebuild transmission.
Yes to changing the outer spin on filter and the internal pan filter.
