Significantly Cool Old Buses

I went to henry ford museam the other day. i've lived near there all my life and never been until now. They have the very first bus that blue bird ever made. It's a 1927 built on a ford model T truck chassis.

They also have Rosa Parks actual bus from Montgomery Al. You can go inside this one and sit in any of the seats.

I've been there a few times, but never noticed the buses. They might be a somewhat new, I'm sure I would have noticed them. If you do ever go there, be sure to check out the Rouge Factor Tour, I went on that a few years ago and you get to watch them build the F150 pickup.

Re: Significantly Cool Old Buses

it's not a crown, it's an actual city bus.....there as a sign there that told what it was, but i don't remember. It does appear to have a DD engine, most likely a 6v71, and it sits sideways.

Re: Significantly Cool Old Buses

just googled it real quick and came up with this.

Quote:
...General Motors Corp. showed that bus Serial Number 1132 was produced in Pontiac, Michigan, in March 1948. It was a TDH-3610 (Transit Diesel Hydraulic Transmission, 36 passenger, Model 10)

I remember reading the bluebird bus was donated to them in the last year.
And to check my memory I looked at the bluebird site and it was last march that it had happened. That must have been where I read that.

Wow - those are pretty dang cool. Imagine finding another bus of similar age to the 1927 then converting to an RV. Pretty unique.
