Re: Skoolie leveling

How steep are we talking here? If it's no too bad, just get some 2"x12"x8' boards and saw them up. Then just drive the bus up on to them where it needs to be higher. It will take a little trial and error, but you can get it really close. You could even set wood under the bottle jacks. It won't sink in soft or wet dirt. I wouldn't use jacks to do any major leveling. I'd only use them for stabilizing or very minor adjustments.

Re: Skoolie leveling

I often try to park the bus in as level as a place as I can find. I do carry 2"X6" by what ever lengh it just happens to be. I also have my 20 bottle jack for extra height if needed but I havn't yet and hopefully I won't need it for a flat either.

I don't know what to tell you there. 35 degrees is incredibly steep. I wouldn't even park a regular car on something that steep. Your best bet in my opinion is to find something more level and then figure out another option for your solar panels.

Re: Skoolie leveling

Correct me if I'm wrong, but a little trignometry using 100 feet as the base length and 35 degrees as the angle nets an opposite side length of 70. So that's a 70 foot vertical change over 100 feet or a 70% grade. Something about that just doesn't jive with me. Another way to look at it would be this. The maximum length for a bus is 40 feet. With a 40 foot bus on a 35* hill there would be a 28 foot difference in altitude between the front and the rear. I don't think 2x8's are going to make up that difference. If you park across the side hill and the bus is 8 feet long there will be a 5.6 foot difference between the height of the uphill and downhill sides.

Are we sure that wasn't a typo?
