Great thread Paxeye. I have to get my bus in about two weeks and I'm a 50/50 mix of nerves and excitement. I have to drive about 400 miles from the middle of Georgia to Winter Park, Florida to bring her home. I'll warn everyone on the forums here the day I drive back. Everyone in a 30 mile radius of my route should probably stay inside to avoid putting themselves in danger of my bus!

Thanks for sharing. Every time I read someone's "maiden-voyage" story I feel a little bit more confident.

Whatever you do, take your time and be very patient. if you haven't driven anything this big before, I'd learn up on it as much as possible. Lots at stake there. Good luck, I know how those nerves can be.

Us Florida folks have heard the legends of these "mountains" that you speak of. From an early age we are told stories of the magical lands where the Earth moves not just out... but up and down. One day, I shall see these "mountains" for myself.

I do not live in the mountains, but just like Alaska and Russia, I can "see them from here."
I count 13 climbs and descents of various lengths and heights each way on my 20 minute commute, but the highest point is only 900 feet (or 2.6 Floridas) above sea level. I can see the mountains in 3 states from the top of my commute, but the nearest are half an hour or more away . . . . .

I have atleast 4 8% I have to climb coming and going to work it, uphill even when I go down hill to the flat lands
