Speedomoter and RPM
Neither gauge is working on bus I bought 1997 Bluebird TC2000 FE. How are they powered? Is it all electrical sending units or is there any mechanical linkage. If electrical any idea were they come off of engine or transmission. Cummings 5.9

IIRC, the only mechanical gauges in a TC2000 are the air pressure gauges. Everything else is electronic, including the speedometer.
On our 1990 TC2000's we ended up replacing the movements in several of the buses.
Blue Bird calls the gauge cluster a movement. And when one part of it stops working the only way to repair is to replace the whole movement.
I suppose it is less expensive on a production line to put in a single movement with multiple functions. But I guess I am just too old school. I much prefer a set of Stewart-Warner gauges with black faces, white lettering, and red needles.

Amen to the old school, independent gauges. I HATE the multi-non-function digital crap that everything seems to come with today.

if the cluster is actually a clusyer.. you can get them fixed.. or even fix them yourself.. half the time its just a bad solder joint on them or a connector thats not fitted correctly...

Take it apart and resolder the connections. 9 times out of 10 this will fix your problem. You most likely will not even need any more solder -- heat the iron up and simply hold it onto each of the joints at the connectors. The connectors are the big plugs that the data cables are hooked into. Cadillackid is right in that the problem is that these solders crack from all the vibrations. I fixed mine in a few hours and it is 100% functional right now. There is a thread somewhere.
I didn't finish the tutorial but it was a success, here is what it looks like: International Cluster Repair

Thanks for the info.
When I bought the bus a noticed the speedo and rpms didn't work I also noticed some disconnected wires under the bus by the transmission and wanted to figure out if they were to these gauges, hence where are the sending units on the tranny

The tach gets its signal from the alternator. I have the same bus and swapped out the alternator with one with an internal voltage regulator. I had to figure out the tach wiring to get it hooked back up.

Look for a sensor somewhere on the tailshaft housing of the transmission.

Hey!! You're the guy!!
I swapped the altenator for one with a built in voltage regulator and my tach doesn't work now. What did you do? My cluster on the 1997 Bluebird TC2000 FE is analog but not mechanical. All wires.

How did you get it to work? It was working until the altenator was swapped out for one with an internal voltage regulator. The speedometer is stilling at 80 mph lol
