I keep loosing connectivity. So messages are short.
Bus is a 99 BB 9 window . Should I try driving on the single tire or call for the tow?
The bus is weighing 18000.
Ideas and experience most appreciated.

How far are you from a tire dealer or truck boneyard are you?
If not too far and you can keep your speed relatively slow, you should be able to "limp" it to help on the remaining single wheel.
No guarantees, but it should work.

Our 3800 (a 95) and every 3800 I've seen in person has 10R22.5 tires, not 9R22.5. If you can find 10R22.5 tires in your area, you could get 2 and put those on the front...then someday, when you need new tires on the rear, change those to 10R22.5 as well.
I have done what you mentioned...running one tire on the rear...to get somewhere I can resolve things. But I limited my speed to 45 and was constantly on guard. It's not the ideal solution, but at least it can get you to a safe spot.
EDIT: It looks like I was typing while Pete was posting. I second what Pete said.
EDIT 2...the Sequel: Do you have tools to change a tire? I'm guessing so, if you're asking about removing the inner wheel and running on the outer one alone. But if you don't, that changes the options.

Can you clarify some details about the issue, so we can better guide you? Is the problem that you cannot find 9R22.5 tires near you? If so, do you know how far you have to go to get some? If the closest shops don't have 9R22.5 tires, do they have any 10R22.5 in stock?
If you can limp to a shop that either has 9R22.5 tires or 10R22.5 tires, I'd do that. Might you lose another tire? Sure...and much of that depends upon the condition of the tires. If they are in good shape and inflated properly, then the chance is you could travel 100s of miles at a slow speed (think 45 or so) on a single tire in a rear position. If you lose another tire, then play tire Jenga again and move one from the remaining double side. In a way, with dually tires, you have 2 spares with you. That is NOT ideal...I know...but it can work.
Keep in mind that low inflation is a leading cause of tire failure, so check all of your tires for proper pressure. That single rear tire should be at max PSI to keep the load capacity up. And when you're doing the single-tire shuffle, stop frequently and walk around the bus and put your hand on every tire to see how hot the tire is. If the single tire on the rear is hotter than the rest, then pause for a while and consider going even slower or stopping more frequently.
Now, if the issue is resources for purchasing tires then that's another issue altogether. But I bet you can get to a shop with what you've got...again, if your tires are in good shape.

10 r 22.5 used to be used by UPS feeder doubles. May be some at a truck tire shop. Thats what I switched to when I could not find 9 r 22.5 for my lift truck.

Two issues :
1 weekend and shops are closed & emergency services do not stock this tire
2 I can't drive any further with the shredded tire beating the water tanks, and other
So my brother is driving down with an angle grinder so we can cut the old tire off.
I just purchased and installed 4 new 9r22.5. I should have sprung for the other two. Drats

Ah, so you have new tires on the front axle and on the outside positions of the rear? And the one which failed was one of the old tires, which are on the inside of the rear dually wheels?
If you're buying two more tires, I'd still suggest getting two 10R22.5 tires and putting them on the front. Then, the next time you buy tires, change the rears to 10R22.5 so you end up with a more common tire size all around.
I think every bus owner should have one of these torque multipliers and a jack and some wood blocks and a short-handled shovel. With that, you could change your own tires and shuffle tires around as needed...so you're not stranded. I've owned this one since 2016 and I've used it a ton. It will easily bust loose lug nuts which I couldn't budge with a 5-foot cheater bar. The shovel works well for prying the tire/wheel up, to lift it onto or off of the studs and hub.

I wouldn't think so...since my 3800 and every one I've seen in person has 10R22.5 tires on it. Ours has 7.5 inch rims. Unless you have skinny 6" rims, you can use 10R22.5 tires on your wheels. I'm guessing you have 7.5" rims...but even if you have 6.75" rims you're still fine going to 10R tires.

Look around on the steel wheels for a stamp. Often they are stamped with the width. You're looking for a 7.5 or a 6.75
If you find either of those then you can use the 10R tires. It's odd that the tire guy would tell you you couldn't use them without knowing what size rims you've got now. You are more likely than not to have suitable rims.
You are right, 10R tires are much more common and you'll be better off in the future trying to find those.

If you can't find a size stamp, which isn't on all rims, you can measure across between the beads when you cut the tire off (are you still doing that?) or when they dismount it at the shop.

Found a stamp it looks like it says,"ACCURIDE 22.5 x 7.50 "
Took a picture of it but can't post to this website. I confirmed your analysis that 10Rs will fit on 7" rims. Thanks for giving me a credible accurate option.
