Strapping down the little ones
I would imagine there are plenty of folk, like me, who want to put a young family into a bus.
I've read the propaganda on school buses being safer than cars and that because they're "compartmentalized" kids are protected.
I was planning on taking all the seats out of my bus and just having a banquette for seating. I understand in some places (not sure about Ontario, Canada) this is legal in terms of kids being transported.
However, I'd really like to secure my little guy (he's 4) if possible.
Any comments? Has anyone dealt with this issue? Apparently it's not as simple as putting safety clips on an existing school bus seat.

There actually are bus seats with built in baby/child carrier that fold into the seat when not used. For a space saver that would be about your best bet, and no clips.

Any links to what these look like? I'll have to put this in a short bus, FYI.
Thx.

Sometimes they are on ebay, or if you're lucky someone near you might be scrapping their seats and you can get them cheap or free. Beyond that the scrap yards are actually hanging onto some items in the hope of reselling at above scrap prices.
They're just standard sized bus seats but the back of the seat is much thicker to accommodate the child carrier when it's folded away.
I'll start looking for some.

I prefer duct tape. It has always worked for me, especially when they whine. If it's good enough for Nascar, it's good enough for me.

Don't forget the military. Or the airlines, with 600mph tape.

That's the bus seats. The fold down child seats seem pretty safe. There seem to be a number of different styles, but they all have some type of fold down child seat and harness in them.
Sorry, I looked for these seats for a while without luck and eventually forgot.

So what's wrong with Velcro coveralls and strips strategically placed about the cabin?

I don't see NASCAR using Velcro.

I saved all seat belts that were in good conditions from when i removed the seats.
I'll only have an extra chair, and a "love seat";
- for the chair, i'll bolt the belts to the chair itself. and the whole assy will be bolted down to the floor with either toggle bolts or long regular bolts, washers and nuts (just like the old seats were installed). This seat is for mama.
- for the love seat, it'll be fixed to the bust like the chair, but i'll extend the belts from the mounting rib on the lower wall, from behind the l.seat. On the love seat is where the car seat for the lil one will go with a classic seat-belt attach, and right next to her will be Jr inside his carrier (same seat belt attach).
All within norm, law, and with so much hardware not even the hulk will pull them apart.
