In a number of states that is not a problem. Here in WA you can apply for a title and get a limited title and after three years you get a normal title.
The potential fly in the ointment is that, during the three years, someone can come along and show ownership documents and then you have a fight on your hands.
Reality is that if you go through this process on a vehicle that has been basically been abandoned for many years this is quite unlikely.
Also, VT will register it by mail with just a bill of sale.
Cool looking old bus. I hope someone rescues it.

Here it would be a bill of sale a VIN and file for lost title.
Show pics and say you are restoring it.

Yeah...TX is stupid about a lot of stuff...pretty sure you'd have to register out of state...WA law makes sense...my budget, ADHD, and bipolar just wouldn't suit this project[emoji2]

The budget is the only part that wouldn't fit?
With the others in the end it COULD end up being better than a studebaker.
Because you argue and debate with yourself and then the next day you don't remember what YALL were fighting about so you do what looks good at the moment.

That bus has been listed for longer than I can remember. The title might be the reason. It is pretty darn dry in Big Spring (except for today) so IF it were a local bus, it might be in "decent" shape.

Just from the pics I'd say it's a easy clean up [emoji2]

How many chances will you get for a Studebaker bus?

The engine is either a inline 6 or 8 and a flathead. Those engines are getting expensive to work on and they are tricky as well. I'm sure the stude forums would help with info on engine and trans issues. A place like the Hokee Ass Messenger Board would be a good place to get info. A lot of older more informed guys hang out there.

It would be real quaint to restore that engine, but nobody will want to drive it like that.
Better to give it the tango treatment.

That's pretty cool. Some of you know how difficult it is to find a Studebaker pickup truck. They've been rare since I was in high school. It's not likely we'll see another studebaker bus. I didn't know they existed.

Go for it. Should be easy enough to get parts at your neighborhood Studebaker dealer.

The listing says its a automatic transmission that would have to be a later model repower if that is so. But it looks to me like Mrs.Frizzel left another bus years ago.
