Can you elaborate on this? When I removed the door opening mechanism it seemed to be connected to the lock. So, how did you get yours locked after removing that?

Mine is a on a 1990 BB. It has an assembly that is held into the door by 4 screws. Mine is basically a giant "D" Ring, Which twists and locks to the other half of the door. It has a little lock tumbler that stops it from twisting when locked. I did not have factory keys, so i took the mechanism out to have lock smith find a new tumbler, and they were able to just whip out a new key instead. Does yours not have a factory lock of some type??

The factory lock mechanism was defeated when I removed the giant factory door opener that's on top of the dog house (inside engine bay).

I just received my order from Atlantic shed. On the back of the latch mechanism is stamped "spep.com"
Turns they are manufacturers / suppliers of latches & locks. Check them out at
