Periwinkle the Bus

Say hello to Periwinkle the Bus!

Perri is a 2002 Am Tran diesel, 28' with front and rear A/C & heat. Series 60 Detroit engine with an Allison transmission. Speedo just turned over 89k miles on my 300 mile drive home from Virginia.

Only eight seats with wheelchair tie downs, a functioning handicap lift, plus a rear door. Air brakes, air operated driver's seat, and air operated front doors. She's very clean and is now registered as an RV.

I love my bus so much!

Nice! Did it come with the fisheye mirrors already removed, or did you do that?

Side pics, please.

It came exactly as pictured, except for the tiny bit of periwinkle spray paint on the front - I did that. 😁

That rust is no problem at all but the 6.0 VT365 is a deal killer for me, those engines are junk and overpriced to deal with. Get a bus that is 04 or older and skip the emissions garbage that ruins engines.

Interesting... my mechanic friend here at home told me it was the series 60 Detroit when he came over to my house after I drove it home.

How can I find out for sure what it is? Ugh.

There's pretty much no way to fit an DD series 60 in a FE bus like that. Maybe a DT466E aka Series 40.

I'm going to take a photo or two of the engine.

My mechanic friend was inside and under the bus looking at it but there's no way I'm sliding underneath the bus. LOL

I just took a few photos but you can't see much of anything. ☹ That front compartment is stuffed full of engine, that's for sure.

I don't see any way to look at that engine other than removing the entire cover. That's a big nope for me. LOL

I do see them in this post, just not the first one. Strange. I also see the Periwinkle Blue on the passenger front. Are you going to go with this color all over?

Looks like a sweetheart. Low miles are great. Would love the wheelchair lift in our 40 footer.

She will be periwinkle from the bottom of the windows and down ... and white from the bottom of the windows and up to the roof.

Is that bad or good and how can I find out what she is for sure??

I can tell you she drove beautifully the 310 miles from Maryland to upstate New York... and continues to do so. Engine runs smooth and she is a real beast. LOL

She should run well at 89k miles. She’s not even broken in yet.[emoji2][emoji106]
