Using horizontal propane tanks upside down

I recently bought a 20lb flame king horizontal propane tank (https://www.amazon.ca/Flame-King-YSN...7065042&sr=8-2)

After i received it i saw there is a sticker on the tank that basically says it cannot be operated upside down (undermounted).

Is anyone else running this tank or have first have knowledge of this situation?

I'll just say as a reminder that perma-mounted tanks greatly limit how you can obtain propane. If you can design a system that uses standard removable tanks, you can exchange/refill just about anywhere.

The tank specs should be followed.

Due to the inside fuel pickup tube design, the tank needs to be setup on its pedestal "base" when in use. Probably a good idea when in storage/transport as well.
They don't have to be "permanently" bolted down, and I leave mine unbolted so the tanks can be easily removed and refilled without tool usage.

I have two of these exact tanks and they work great in a lower height space, as they sit lower by virtue of the tank being "sideways" vs upright, as a typical 20# BBQ tank would be used or setup in.

Most folks that buy this type of tank do so for space consideration, as the overall height when stored and in use is lower than a standard 20# BBQ style tank.

Yikes, they are a bit pricey north of the border!

What is it exactly that you're looking to do with such a tank?

It seems be an easy fix by just attatching some bracketry to the existing feet on the tank and extend above. Then bolt it to whatever is structural and handy. Maybe put the whole setup on drawer slides with a quick release mechanism to remove the tank for remote filling.

The tanks are set up to supply liquid gas, or gas vapor depending on where the pick up is. You don't want liquid propane where you want gas.
I went a bit bigger with a 29.3 gallon Flame King. As far as filling it, I don't need to near as often as a 20lb tank, so I plan in advance to hit a propane suppliers.

That tank would need to be dismounted to fill every time. Mounts horizontally, but must be refilled VERTICALLY.

Go to a proper propane tech / shop

they can likely re-do the valves and drop tube for your use case.

Act as if you're going to just refill at self-serve AutoGas facilities (yes tax), be aware they can be **very** wary of liability issues.

Once all is installed working properly, can decant as liquid into stock 20# BBQ bottles for portable cooking, and vice versa in a pinch, adapters for standard fittings very easy to buy without persuading professionals.

Pay extra for Rego not cheap chinese.
