They do! Supers have the tucked under look and these do too. Does everyone know the reason VW introduced the Super Beetle? If you don't, here's the answer. Supers have Macpherson strut front suspensions so that more than one suit case can fit in under the front bonnet. I think a Super can fit two and a half.

What the heck is an "auto auto?"
OH WAIT! It's a car with an automatic transmission. JEEEZ I'm slow on the uptake.

My bad! These don't have rear windows. They are almost strictly beach cars and they most show up in the beach areas as rentals for tourists.

MY inaugural Volkswagen was a '71 Super Beetle. Prolly the coolest car I've owned, virtually drooling personality!
Sadly, I had to send her to Volksie Valhalla when the belly pan rot got so bad I felt like Fred Flintstone.
Yup, knew that! In fact that was an early wrenching job I farmed out. The risk of decapitating myself doing the struts myself didn't seem cost-effective...
Actually, 2 valises would fit, any more, and the spare tire has to come out!

Heaven forfend I should write clearly literally.
These latter day doonies look a lot more like the NB than the classic: bonnet, boot, and windshield-wise.

I think my bus bug has bitten my brother. He purchased a 71 VW van and is doing a complete electric conversion on it. He's a surgeon, so has the budget. I'll post updates.

Just got an update. He bought the late 71 Van a couple weeks ago. He tells me he already has ti stripped to the last part for a high dollar paint job. He is doing it the right way and has already ordered 295 parts of original German made factory parts, no Brazil parts. He is searching for a salvage late 2019 Tesla 3 to pull the full drive train from. Plenty of them available. It will be a traveling photo studio and will be used for charity events at schools , hospitals, etc.

As I understand it, 71 was a transition year where the later 71's got the disc brakes and other stuff the early ones didn't have. He stripped it and was impressed that there was absolutely no rust anywhere on this Calif unit.

Got the studs on the drums and then the wheels mounted. today marks the first time the bug has been off jack stands since 97/98. After 22 years she rolls again. Now to hook up the steering column and brakes.

We really can't wait to get it out on the road for some cruising.

Sweet, I love bugs. I never owned one, but I rented a room from a couple in Atlanta who let me borrow theirs to go get groceries and such. It was extra fun because it had no starter and no reverse gear, so I had to be pretty careful where I parked it.

As a former industrial H&S weenie, I am relieved to see Wolfsburg APRs are requisite PPG!
Looks weird, without that front fender. Good weird, tho... Not like that time I snapped a deer's neck.
Not bare-handed! My fantasy life extends only *so* far...
Nope, the 'dear' thing that bust my '72 VW SB's R HL, tore the shotgun fender free of it's welts, and stove in that side's door when it's entire BODY whiplashed.
Oh yeah, and then there were the violently ejected ungulate feces that were a while getting winkled out of the RR fender welting.
Almost 110 pounds of venison, tho . .
Anyhow!
Good that she's rolling again!!! [emoji106][emoji106]
(Think I'd invest in some sort of wheel chock, until the brakes be bled)

I've been aways awhile. I forgot how to paste-in jpgs! It sux, getting old.
However, given the only alternative to which, that *I've* been witness to... I reckon I'll take it.
Literally and figuratively
Early-mid-Nineties: Seminole County FL; HotBlack the gato navigator in attendence in my '67 Westphalia Camper, "Das."
(Hereby providing archival proof that I am incapable of finishing ]ANY[ bus's modifications: Micro or macro)

Been on jack stands in my folks garage since 97/98.
My buddy bill was blown away by how much Gene Berg stuff I had stashed.

sold my 82 from Oregon to new group of builders this past Saturday
People are really into these
I drove one 10 years ago for 2 years, from California
It was a 1982 Vanagan 2 tone brown and almond
air cooled manual transmission
It went to new Zealand
Bought a Oregon Almond Vanagan with air cooled and a/c Manual early summer this year.Really clean
Did not get at making daily user so sold it as have another project
It is funny as I advertised it on facebook where they do not recognize Vanagan
They want and you have to list them as Eurovans
Air cooled or not at all
