That is funny... that is my Dad's neighbors kids skoolie.... the story is that the top was welded on, but they didn't make it under a bridge and it ended up a bit sideways on the top, so they used the ratchet straps to hold it back where it was supposed to be.
My dad sent me a picture of him standing next to it a couple of weeks ago up by Brainerd MN.

Your Dad looks a lot like Allan Alda!

I Know the Brainerd area well...when I finally get my bus done....one of our first trips will be to Mil Lacs lake and to see the few relatives still living in the area.

I love that area.... in a couple of years when my wife and I retire we will be moving back up North... probably between Alexandria and brainerd somewhere.... hoping our bus will be done by then.

Now I know what to do with my minivan when I’m done with it, it would definitely be fun to ride up there; I’d leave the front two seats in then make the back part a bed.

Sounds great..... except for the bridge/underpass part!
Our bus is 11' 7" before any add-ons, so it would have to be a pretty low van to make the height limit.

I think I found their model for inspiration....

Going Furthur Documentary Official Trailer

Furthur.... Furdur

And that upper contraction must be some kind of deck.

If I ever welded a van on top of my bus I would put ratchet straps on it just for effect.
