what do you folks think of this bus?

hey folks,

just emailed the guy for this:

https://milwaukee.craigslist.org/hvo...915514042.html

says its a dt466 with an ally 2000, 172k

can see the air brake plunger so i'd assume it has air brakes, other than that I can't ascertain too terribly much from the ad/pics. mid roof I think, 10 window

anyone have any familiarity with the coachwork / mechanicals for a bus similar to this? build quality impressions?

particularly interested in tidbits of what to look for on the powertrain, outside of the general bus stuff (rust, leaks, tires, etc) but hey feel free to include any of that stuff too, I've only bought 1 of these ever lol

thanks in advance, don't poach my bus please

Lots to like about it.

Reasonably recent engine overhaul, a new steering box can't hurt.
Good engine, not a 545 behind it.
Overall mileage is quite reasonable.

I'd ask for some pictures of the underside, I'm not sure how much salt/rust to expect on something from Milwaukee.

Great bus with a decent price. The most important thing is to check how rusty the undercarriage is.

the pic of the stairwell is concerning.. notice the bottom below the step is completey rotted away.. esp around the door hinge mount.. that to me will need pretty immediate repair so the door hinge doesnt fall off...

Likewise I would be worried about rust on a midwest bus of that age.

I was lucky with my Las Vegas bus. Probably in the 1% of buses that actually don't have any rust.

It would be a decent deal at $2500.
