Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

MIne did shuttle duty between Hartford Ct. Holiday Inn (which became a Crowne Plaza) and Bradley airport-240k miles of a 30 mile round trip. The paper trail also shows that it briefly was used at a childrens musuem-then someone bought it as a work truck-before determining a step van is what he really needed.

Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

We don't know what school district.

Prior to our purchase, our bus was owned by Wildwater Ltd in Long Creek , SC. It's a small world, we used to live down the road in Westminster/Seneca/West Union. We brought it out west in their paint. advertised for them for over 1700 miles! The bus was used to shuttle rafters from Long Creek, SC to the Chattooga, Ocoee and Nantahala Rivers. After it left their service, it sat in a field for a while until we bought it (still on an SC title). It was not far from where we used to live in NC.

Currently the bus is in Roswell, NM... until we leave.

Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

The Bustache was originally stationed somewhere in Vermont. Then a guy from upstate New York bought her, and planned to cut out the rear and use her as a hang-glider hauler. But, he didn't get to cutting before he had to sell at a loss (That's where I came in). I took it to Savannah, Georgia for the winter and build. Then we hit the road for a few months traveling 30 states last year. Afterward, I lived in the bus while working on a farm last year in Duvall, Washington. Currently, it is waiting for me up there in Washington, but I am bringing it down to Las Vegas in a couple of months!

thomas bus was lakeland, wa school dist. ran number 8 at first then number 4.. then was purchased by nw bus sales, and sold to christian school in halsey oregon, where they used it 2 yrs for athletic trips and a bit of picking up kids, and purchased a eagle coach for their summer trip for comfort, so i got it for 2800 a couple yrs ago instead of their 6500 asking price. they paid 8500 for it...

mine lived its life in Victoria BC, out to Edmonton, back to the okanogon and all was for hospitals. it made its way up to prince George BC where it got sold and used by Richie Brothers as an auction office and some Lucky Casino as a people mover. according to the records it dont have much for mileage on it. probably why its mostly in one piece lol. anyhow its now in the middle of the prairies.

Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

My old bus started it's life as a school bus in eastern Utah(1935 to about 1950). History then lapses until the early 1970's when it was converted into a mobil medical clinic and used on an Indian reservation in Utah. This date is established by the age of the replacement driveline and the dates cast in the lenses on the clearance and tail lamp replacements along with the 12 volt headlamp bulbs. The PO purchased the bus in 1995 and used it to advertise his antique business in Sandy, Utah. At some point the PO rented the bus to a movie studio who painted the bus Air Force blue and used it in a movie about "Topaz", the Japanese concentration camp used during the Second World War. I purchased the old girl in may of 2010 and have been trying to convert her into a mini motor home ever since--she's fighting me every inch of the way

Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

BC was built at the old Crown Coach factory in Los Angeles in December 1976. It entered service with the Kern High School District in Bakersfield, CA in early 1977 and stayed there until 2000. It then went into service as a driver training bus, bus because of the standard transmission, with the Kern Superintendent of Schools. When automatics finally became the norm, I purchased BC as it was going to go up for auction in 2005. I've had it ever since, and it took about six years to get the conversion "finished", but I'm always working on something...I don't think I will ever "finish".

Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

I know this is an older topic, but I am proud of our baby. She was in Service in Posey County, IN until she was retired. We bought her while living in Evansville, IN.

Drove her out here to Arizona. Our next trip will take her back across I-40 to South Carolina sometime next year

Our 89 Thomas was an elementary school bus in the Hillsboro School District, OR (near Portland) and was sold to an international dealership a few months before we bought it, with just under 68k miles

And she now lives on a farm in Oregon

Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

Purchased new in 1977 by the LIttle Falls MN school district, driven by the gentleman I purchased it from until 1992. He retired when the put the bus out of service, purchased it for $850, converted it into what it was when I purchased it and gave it to nis nephew to use in 2004.

It was a rural route bus and has a TON of miles on it for it's age. He said it had just shy of 300k when he purchased it in 92' and it now has 355k on the clock. 450 of those are mine

It lives 45 miles away from it's former stomping ground and there's a very good chance that my mother and some of her siblings rode this bus as their old house was in the area that it served when it was new. Kind of neat when you put it all together.

Re: Where did your bus serve and where is it now?

My 87 Blue Bird was once a activity bus for Triangle Lakes School District Blachley, OR since it was new, They retired it around 2009 when they replaced it with a new activity bus, they used my bus for a while as a spare until I came across this on craigslist in 2010 when I picked her up for $2000. We was living in Astoria, OR at the time we used the bus to relocate to Oklahoma. Since then we have been making the full conversion to a motor home. The bus is near completion but will always have room for improvments. she now resides in Logan County Oklahoma.

My bus was a school bus. It then served as a Johnson City Tennessee emergency management vehicle. Now, it is my home.
