The same is true for semis IF they're even welcome in non-commercial lots. Walmarts that are truck friendly and therefore I would include RV/skoolie friendly are so because of a couple of reasons, mainly their parking lot is larger than their average needs, they don't share it with other businesses like in a shopping center, there's not massive amounts of curbs and landscaping at risk, and the local community hasn't made parking/zoning laws against large vehicle parking in city limits. I tag truck friendly Walmarts and other non-truck stop parking opportunities as I drive around the country in my Google maps.
Back to the OP, I suspect the differences between parking a 36 or 40 footer will be negligible except in curbside urban parking where taking up more than your allotted space is rewarded with a citation. In nose-to-nose parking lots the spaces are never uniform from one location to the next anyways so I just don't want you to sell yourself short if an available bus comes along just because it's a few more feet. At that size no one's going to notice anyways because they're going to be marveling at your fantastic conversion!
