Will this shuttle be ok for a Skoolie

Hi all,

I am looking to buy this 2015 ford shuttle, it has a 5.4l engine. Any input would be appreciated.
Thank you,

Engine?

Any details on the engine? Other than that, check out the going price on similar vehicles. From the pics it looks good, but mileage and maintenance records are important. Good luck. It looks solid.

5.4 is a gasser.. not gonna have a ton of power in a bus like that... Shuttles are nice because they ride nice and are easy to drive, usually include niceties like A/C, however shuttles are not deisnged to take a lot of weight or have structural changes to their walls. ie roof decks, heavy upper cabinets etc..

#1 thing to watch out for and maintain on that engine is the cam phasers. theyre a couple grand to fix and can wipe out the engine. they talk about it in this video

I thought the cam issues were only in the mustangs not the 5.4 trucks?
is the 5.4 a version of the same engine?

ill but it to you this way. my buddy runs a night shop, hes done a dozen or so engine swaps and another dozen or so phaser jobs in the last 5 years. its like a bread and butter that he doesnt enjoy.

in the video you hear them mention the phaser filters, most people don know about them and they dont get serviced. if i got this bus the first thing id do is service those filters and run an engine cleaner in the oil to clean out any sludge. if you hear any light clicking up by the timing cover, its likely phasers or a timing tensioner about to go.
