The beginning
My husband John and I bought our bus on July 25th (My late father's birthday) and drove her across town on the 27th. On the 28th of July we began our conversion. The bus was originally an Activity and when it was retired our local county's EMS bought it and converted it into their Emergency Communications Command Post. We named the bus after John's late mother, Jane. Here is some of the pictures from the beginning of the conversion.
John is checking out our garage and trying to figure out what are all the wires for.
That's better!!
The space is starting to open up now.
This is going to be fun.
So many wires.
Next is desk removal. Oh and that green needs to go!
Safety first!
John securing the hand rail.
The next day, a fresh beginning and decisions ahead.
Bonnie lobes helping daddy.
John had salvaged a kitchen counter from a job site earlier in the week. Score! Upcycle.
Brutus and Bonnie our Bulladors are still trying to figure out the bus.
Scrapping
Un-screwing
Next was un-gluing, un-screwing and scrapping the windows.
First to go was the unneeded second cabinet. We kept the wood from the breakdown and reused it later for our bed frame, wheel well coverage and...
Let the sanding fun begin.
The bus has a nice size awning.
All the seats have been removed already but one and two partitions. Score!
They put in a propane furnace. Here is the thermostat.
The furnace is located in the lower left cabinet.
They put in two identical cabinets and a wall. Behind the wall was a huge desk and lots or communication cables and wires.
The Command Post
Going to the EMS garage to see the bus for the first time.
We won the bid!
