the big grill should have been a tip off that you had a FE. the bus I am looking at is an re dt466 with the 3060
and as far s 6th gear, I plan on jumping all over that

Hey Njsurf, just now saw your message, sorry for the delay in getting back to you. I love my '99 Amtran. No complaints whatsoever. I don't have 6th gear unlocked but would jump at the chance to have it done. From what I've read here though it's not easy. So jump at the chance if you can.

Nothing quirky about mine at all. I have the front engine (FE). Are you getting a FE too? One good thing is the ceiling and side panels are screwed in so much easier to take out not having to deal with a 1000 rivets . Do you have a page setup here yet?

mike here. I am looking at a similar bus.
ic/amtran 99-2001. they have several at a good price (1495-2000) for the 12-14 window. motor are the dte466/3060 combo as well.
have you had any problems with the instrument cluster?
were you able to get "6th" gear?
the dealer has an Allison shop close by and for 250 (what they charge) he would have it done before I picked it up.
I am probably going to buy one of these... now to tell the wife
anything great or quirky about these busses?
