I'm highly inclined electrically, and even dabble with arduinos some for simple processes/converting analog/digital signals etc. What I don't want is a project where my bus is parked for an extended period of time while I'm working through kinks. We currently drive it at least 2k miles a month. This is why this standalone system is looking so good, and he only wants $1200 for the whole lot.

As for gearing, i already ran the numbers and realize 6th gear is out of the question at 65mph. I think a perfect future upgrade would be a 5.38 rear chunk swap which would put me at 1850rpm at 65 in 6th gear. As for heat, I will be adding a pyrometer and a trans cooler when I do the swap. A slightly larger turbo is also on the wish list before I make the next power jump to 300 or 350hp(although I'm not even sure if the injectors or pump support this much HP), to give it some more air/cooling.

    Thanks for your response.

Shortly after I messaged you I found a standalone 3060 in Pennsylvania that is from a 1994 mechanical DT466 and it has the entire harness, tcm's, shifter, tranny mounted tps, flexplate, converter....the whole enchilada... This seems like a super easy swap and the only thing ill may have to do is have the driveshaft modified. Is there any difference in the flexplate bolt pattern on the crank from the dt466 to dt466e?

I like the fact that it is a seemingly straight swap but I'm wondering how much I am missing out on by only being WTEC-II and not having ecm integration? Is this that big of a deal? Could I make a 1994 3060 WTEC-III in the future if I wanted, or is there physical/mechanical/electrical differences internally from a 94 to 98 3060? Or can this standalone system somehow be integrated with the ecm?

I posted 2 responding messages and I don't see them now. Do you see them?

    Hello Chris,

I have been reading your posts and hearing about you from numerous people in the Skoolie/Dt466 world. I met Bill from Power Hungry Performance in person when we stopped by their shop for a tuner for our Skoolie and I just recently have been corresponding with "RolesvilleMarina" as well about his swap.

We have an 02 IH dt466e dog nose bus I am getting ready to swap to an Allison 2000. It currently has a MT643 but lockup is not working. We currently cruise 58mph at 2300ish rpm, 4.44 rear with 11r's.

I see you are located in Columbus, as am I. I know I will have questions through the swap, mostly with wiring/programming and I would be happy to even pay you for your time if you are able to help. I would love to to buy you lunch sometime to chat as well.

The foremost question I have currently is; Can a 3060 be swapped as "easily" as a 2000 or is there more wire/programming issues?

Thanks for your time and I look forward to hearing back from you soon!

The test jugs are set up before the separator basically in the position where the tank would be. Does that test jug have to be airtight or is it ok just to hang a fuel line down into it?

    Hi Cadillackid,
I respect your expertise. I have a 1997 t444e that started losing power after purchase, unable to exceed 30 MPH. A roadside mechanic misdiagnosed a faulty tank lift pump and unsuccessfully tried to bypass it with an external pump. I later discovered there's no tank pump in a T444E. I replaced the tank, installed a new water separator and reconnected fuel lines as original. To test, I used a 5-gallon plastic can for fuel feed and old can for return line. I primed the system but it only idles, and the fuel bowl atop the engine drains but doesn't refill. Is my approach flawed? I'm a diesel novice seeking advice. Thanks.

Thanks that helps a lot. I was expecting it to work like the neutral safety switch and close when you shift into R but I didn't have the motor running to build pressure. I appreciate it!

    Hi Cadillackid,
I was sent your way by someone on reddit saying you were an AT545 expert. Would you be able to help me with understanding how the reverse switch on an AT545 works? I posted the question with a picture on Reddit/r/skoolies, can reproduce here if it would be helpful. I would certainly appreciate any help you can provide.
    Thanks.

On closer inspection under the engine, I think you were right with your first description and the Ford dealer is full of it. This thing has *two* serpentine belts, one that runs the compressor that failed, the alternator, etc. There is also an A/C condenser in front of the radiator. There's a second pulley that looks like it was bolted onto the first, maybe by Bluebird. Best I can see, the belt on it appears to run what looks like a second compressor, buried up in the engine compartment. (Not sure if it powers anything else.) I think that must be for the back unit, and connected to the condenser under the bus behind the skirt. Does that make sense? If so, it appears I can just deal with the front A/C and ignore the second or even take it out. Thank you much for your time. I think I am slowing figuring things out thanks to you.

Can drive it. Dash A/C was cold, rear had worked once but was no longer working. Guy working on engine left two wires unconnected. We never used it, I left it that way. After compressor problem, I reconnected rear wiring to see if it would work for drive home., turned it on. With engine running, condenser fans under bus behind driver started up -- they *never* came on when dash A/C in use -- and there was a click at rear cold unit, but no fans. After 10 secs., fans under skirt would shut off. Did that over and over. With engine off but on access., skirt fans would continue running, nothing in rear. I think this means both operating off one compressor? You? Dealer said the two "connected." I want to disconnect rear, replace condenser and use on only dash A/C. That possible? Tnank you! Thank you!
