What’s up Christopher… my Nexiq will it start up with just the power light. Both Bluetooth and power light up simultaneously. Have you ever had an issue like this?

Good evening Christopher… sorry for the delayed response. I didn’t realize you had responded until now.

I have a large, single ECM dt530e military surplus. I have the schematic and have labeled and terminated the 1939 and 1708 wires in my bus bar along with MD3060 wires as well. (Fully custom project) This said, do I need to wire 2 separate j1939 connectors or will the NEXIQ receive ECM/TCM communicate through 1 since they are terminated together?

Good afternoon Christopher… let me preface this by saying I’m a complete rookie and have gotten this far with a lot of research and help.

After getting screwed by a local mechanic, i took it upon myself to tackling and engine swap on my own with the help of great friend. We’ve put a DT530/MD3060 in a Gillig phantom. A completely custom set up from ECM pigtails terminated into a weatherproof box, new gauges, etc. Long story short, I purchased a Nexiq USB Link 2, based mostly off of your posts and recommendations. We are getting ready to wire in the J1939 connections and I’m curious: do I need a J1939 connector for both transmission and engine with a splitter? Looking at the engine and Transmision schematics individually, I don’t see a common connector between both. However, when I watched a Nexiq video, the interface scan had both transmission and engine diagnostics from a single connector. I’m sure I’m missing something and I hope you can help.

I just read one of your quotes on a thread dude. This gave me an idea. It was about electric power on a schoolie and you mentioned wind turbines.

I have considered that a vertical wind turbine is more space efficient than a standard rotary wind turbine generator. Well, this inspired me by what you said, what if you installed across the top of your schoolie an entire wind farm of vertical turbines? It makes the most use of wasted space atop of the bus, and if you drive it anywhere you are recuperating tons of wasted energy back to a battery bank?

    What do ya think?

I'll try the 9 pin...that would be great if it connects to the TCM data. Any chance you have a link to the DOC software you 'found'? The software actually works but only as a 30 day trial. The Chinese version comes with a registry key that is supposed to automatically input the registration code on start up...but the reg key is what won't work for Win10 apparently.

Also...I have yet to hook the scanner up to the TCM. I've hooked the scanner up to the engine data port and used the Navistar software...which works fine. I've yet to hook the scanner up to the TCM. Am I correct in understanding that to hook up the scanner I need to remove the Grey connector at the TCM and plug the scanner into the grey input of the TCM?

    Hello Cadillackid,
I read your post about your Allison Doc working on windows 10. Is that the official/subscription service or the version sold w/the knock-off Nexiq scanner? I went round and round with the knock-off guys' tech support in the middle of the night (they're in China) and they said their version won't work on Win10. Honestly, I've never been one to buy knock-offs especially from the Chinese but in this case it was my only viable option due to the high cost of the DOC subscription.

Hello I read your posts. I have a 2004 international skoolie with a dt466 and Allison md3060. I was wondering if you had the file that I could clone to my TCM to unlock 6th gear or if you could point me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Morning Kid. Been a while. Just wanted to update you. I was able to get some help from a local school bus mechanic that works for the local school district. He was able to reprogram the ECM to help improve the buses on highway performance. Also when he used his scan tool showed no open codes. Which as you know is nice. He is willing to help me do the tranny swap to the A2000 and also add some much needed underdash air for the driver (me) the roof top unit works well in the cabin but the sun on the driver as you know gets hot. Thanks for all your advice and what you post all for it has been very helpful.
